John Baldessari, "A Person Was Asked to Point", 1969, a series of photographs depicting an outstretched finger pointing to banal objects. Color photos mounted on museum board. Two from the series, 29 x 42.5 in. each.
Yay. So... maybe we should put some stuff in about the index earlier in the syllabus? I'm thinking of the journal Differences 18:1, 2007, edited by Mary Ann Doane with an essay by her and other interesting essays. Perhaps we should insert that AND read it beside Austin on Performativity? That might set us up a little better for the questions of liveness and theatricality? Thoughts?
